"There was an ancient time.  Of all times that are ancient, this one quite young, was wrought from tyranny and oppression.  From these wicked forces mighty heroes did battle for the fate of a world.  Dashed upon misery and sorrow like a ship upon the rocks, failure was nigh.

From noble sacrifice Vartahn was imprisoned and this world saved.  The Scepter of Deepest Night, fell into the hands of a simple farmer.  Angkhur, the Hammer of Sorrow and the Star of Oblivion were cast to the winds and never seen again.  Vartahn's legacy and reign were over.

Thus birthed a Golden Age upon the lands of Sciria.  King Rylandier aroused from a paralyzing illness, seemingly better than ever.  The White Order returned from seclusion on the Ethereal Plane and all was returned to a semblence of normal.

And a call was put out across the land for brave heroes to take up banner and lend aid."

The storyteller closed his aging book and rose.

"Now where did I find those adventurers?"

[DM] It rained last night, this is evident as the cool taste in the air, the soft ground and damp surfaces.  Water collected in puddles disturbed by passing feet, hooves and wheels.

Travelers from across the land are visiting Sciria's capital, Aton, in anticipation of the festival.  In a week the city will see thousands more people from across the kingdom and many from beyond it's borders.

All have much to celebrate, Vartahn's defeat was fealt across the world.  The skies rained, the earth shook and hope was a wave that swept to the four corners.

Nearly a month later the city has gathered to celebrate freedom and a forthcoming proclomation by the king.

[DM] Alright.  I've found players for a tabletop game, minor changes have been made but I shall retell their journey here, for all to witness.

Ascaron, the knight-errant, servant to the King Rylandier and the kingdom of Sciria was our first, human born and noble spirited.
Then came Zook, Gnomish Druid, warden to the fields, brother to the cleric (name misplaced).

Accepting work for the knights barracks and castle guard, they strove forth into the fields to find the missing Brelan Miller, farmer near the edge of town.

Evil is afoot as our heroes survived their first fight and their first taste of Vartahn's Treachery.  Clothes empowered by the enraged spirits of their previous owners lept from their resting place as scarecrows to attack our heroes.  Successful in defeating the creatures yet failing to locate the farmer at his home, they returned to the city to report their findings where the Knight-Lieutenant set them to investigate some ruins just outside town.

So set in motion events which even they were unaware the magnitude of as dark forces gather to undo what was wrought.
